Lat: 40.03° N | Shelter Cove, California
A state-of-the-art, custom steel-hulled longliner is only as effective as the men and women who command it. At Point Delgada Fishing Co., we do not hire for "culture fit." The brutal microclimates and sheer isolation of Shelter Cove naturally weed out the uncommitted. We filter exclusively for operational endurance.
As we expand our digital footprint and open our standard-issue gear to the public, it is time to document the human engine behind our dock-to-dish supply chain. These are the working-class maritime professionals who execute our operations with surgical precision.
THE COMMAND
Captain Sarah Holden | Master of the F/V Ironwright The daughter of one of our original 1976 coalition founders, Captain Holden inherited the company and the flagship vessel after her father’s passing. Holding dual degrees in marine biology and maritime navigation, she orchestrates our hyper-targeted extractions from the wheelhouse, lit only by the faint green glow of modern radar screens and sonar arrays. She is ruthless in her efficiency, entirely dedicated to the safety of the crew, and unyielding in her commitment to the sustainability of the catch. You will find her habitually wearing pitch-black heavy-gauge wool and dark oxidized copper rain gear, watching the horizon with a piercing, focused gaze.
THE DECK OPERATIONS
Under the crush of a rolling following sea, the deck of the F/V Ironwright is an orchestra of mechanical precision and brute physical labor.
Elias Thorne | Deckboss Thorne is the ultimate authority on the deck and speaks strictly in commands. Having left the Bering Sea crab fleets seeking the operational purity of sustainable longlining, he enforces uncompromising maintenance of all gear. With a deep, wind-lined face and a salt-and-pepper beard perpetually matted with sea spray, Thorne operates in a faded, salt-stained canvas slicker and heavily taped wrists.
The Strikers: "Hitch" Miller & Mathis Le Gall These are the young deckhands executing the grueling work of the graveyard watch, hauling heavy-gauge swordfish longlines in the freezing marine layer.
-
Miller is a third-generation Northern California fisherman who turned down a full university scholarship to work the deck. Driven and sharply focused, he lives in his wet, commercial 0.5mm PVC bibs.
-
Le Gall brings generational Breton maritime knowledge from the unforgiving Celtic Sea. Leaving the European fleets to escape quota bureaucracies, his heavily scarred hands and windburned skin are testaments to his flawless operation under heavy swells.
BELOW DECK
Jonas "Mac" MacAulay | Chief Engineer MacAulay was recruited specifically by Captain Holden to oversee the 2022 refit of the F/V Ironwright. Stoic and utterly devoid of humor, he ensures the flawless operation of our vessel—from the pristine modern diesel engines to the heavy-duty refrigeration units that preserve the catch. His uniform is grease-stained knuckles and a steely-grey heavyweight ringspun cotton jacket.
THE DOCK & DIGITAL LOGISTICS
A flawless extraction means nothing if the supply chain breaks upon landfall.
Silas Holden | Dockmaster & Offload Supervisor A veteran of the 1980s Point Delgada deck crews, Silas transitioned to shoreside command after a catastrophic knee injury. Physically imposing in pitch-black waterproof gear, he controls the physical dock infrastructure. He oversees the heavy machinery offload, quality control, and the immediate transfer of the catch into sub-zero transit refrigeration, keeping the supply chain surgically clean.
Elena Rostova | Director of Operations & Commerce Operating from the office at the edge of the dock, Elena manages our uncompromising digital infrastructure. Clinical, sharp, and dressed in strict utilitarian palettes of deep sea-grey and stark white, she built our headless Shopify Plus architecture. She manages the live GPS tracking data of the Ironwright and strictly vets our high-end culinary partners through our password-protected wholesale portal. She ensures not a single pound of our product is wasted on discount markets.
THE WATCH CONTINUES
This is the roster. There are no weak links. When you purchase our heavy-duty marine apparel or secure a wholesale allocation of our catch, this is the crew you are supporting.
The gear is pristine. The crew is rested. The Ironwright pushes on.
